Ready Your Car for Christmas Road Trips

Christmas time is the biggest break time from work for many of us. It's when we mostly spend time with friends and family so it's also when we do a bit more driving than usual. Driving is crucial during this season because everyone's on the road-- people heading over to the beach, visiting relatives, and going on trips to the mall for gift shopping.

That being said, you should prepare your car for some serious road tripping this season! Here are the tips I personally live by whenever I go quite the distance:

1. Visit your mechanic before your planned trip
Make sure that your car is in good working condition by visiting your auto repair shop to get maintenance services few weeks before you hit the road. Or else, any major problems might not get fixed and this may interfere with your trip. You don't want to get stuck in the middle of the road dealing with some kind of stress, do you?

2. Pack a roadside emergency kit
It's better to be safe than sorry. Just in case you get in trouble while on the road, you need to have an emergency kit you can use. You can bring your user manual, headlamp, first aid kit, an empty container for storing petrol, a set of jumper cables, distilled water for your battery wells, road flares, reflective triangles or safety lights, basic tool kits, pencil and paper, as well as a few small snacks.

3. Double-check what you need to bring and don't pack too much
What you need to bring depends on your destination and activities. If you are camping, you will tend to require more gear compared to a holiday trip to a relative's house. Try as much not to bring too much stuff so you won't exceed your car's weight capacity.
